Looking to learn more about RVs before choosing one? You’ve arrived at the right place. It is important to purchase an RV that is best suited for your needs. You’ll regret the waste of money if you buy one that’s too big. Go for anything too small and you’ll never be comfortable. It is very important that you strike the right balance in the RV motorhome or camper that you eventually purchase since it is something that you’re going to use for a long time to come.

This article will provide you with guidance on which kind of RV that will provide you with the most value for your money. There are generally 2 types of RV. First is the motorhome, often called a coach, which is a self-enclosed drivable vehicle. Second is the travel trailer, also called a camper, that is typically towed behind a motorized vehicle.

RV Motorhome

RV Motorhomes come in three different types: Class A, B & C.

A Class A motorhome is massive. It is like a really large bus in terms of size and maneuverability and and it has ample space inside. Most Class A motorhomes are resplendent with modern luxuries, like bathrooms, showers, home entertainment centers, built-in fireplaces, and full-sized appliances. While they certainly don’t lack for features, motorhomes are still extremely expensive and can be cumbersome for some people to drive. Some roads may not even accommodate your motorhome, thus cutting you off from them. However, if traveling is your passion, these motorhomes can make great sense.

A Class B motorhome is the opposite. They are just like full-size conversion vans in terms of handling and size and are perfect for people who are apprehensive about operating bulky motorhomes. They are ideal for a small family since you only have a limited amount of space.

A Class C motorhome lies somewhere in the middle. Basically, they are smaller versions of Class A motorhomes and have the same luxuries and amenities as well. Due to their price and size, a Class C motorhome is best for casual travelers and small families.

Fifth Wheel

As opposed to a motorhome, these campers are large, towable travel trailers. They are a cross  between a camper and a Class A motorhome. Like a Class A motorhome, they also come with decent living quarters and modern amenities. It takes at least a ¾ ton pickup truck to pull a Fifth Wheel camper. A huge number of full time RVers travel the country and live in their Fifth Wheel camper.

Camper Travel Trailer

These are small towable campers, also called travel trailers, that are towed along by a pickup truck or, in the case of smaller units, with an SUV, thus making them a reasonable option for most travelers. They are less expensive than Fifth Wheel campers yet they don’t necessarily lack modern facilities. They come in sizes that will sleep from 4 to 10 people. They also can have interior fireplaces, high definition TV’s, great sound systems, outdoor stove and refrigerators and many other amenities depending on one’s budget.

Popup Camper

These are available in two different variations. One offers storage space & the choice of setting up a rooftop tent whereas the other offers pop-up living quarters. Regardless, a popup camper trailer can be towed by a pickup truck or SUV and happens to be cheaper compared to standard campers. They don’t have many luxuries though. These trailers are often quite rugged and best suited for families or groups that want to enjoy adventures on a budget.

Truck Bed Camper

These campers fit on the back, or bed, of the pickup truck. Most pickup trucks are capable of hauling a truck bed camper though you will need a larger pickup truck for hauling heavier campers. Truck bed campers may also include certain luxuries like showers, small kitchenettes, and bathrooms. They are incredibly affordable as well.
